Garden statue of sphinges

Reconstituted stone sculpture of a sphinx, a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head of a woman. She is reclining on a pedestal in a majestic posture. Her face is adorned with a headdress or ornament reminiscent of ancient styles. Seated on her back is a nude young child, likely a putto or cherub, who appears to be playfully tugging at the sphinx’s hair or headdress. The putto’s expression is serene and relaxed.
