 8 gondole chairs ambonya

8 gondole chairs ambonya

Emile Leon Bouchet designed these 8 chairs of ambonya veneer in the art deco period. He combined the classical lines of the 18th century with the modern lines of the art deco: the form of the gondole chair is typical for the French 18th century and the later empire style. He restyled these classical chairs by working with clear lines of the legs and the back and that are art deco features. Also the choise of the clear color of ambonya of the 8 chairs is a reaction on the dark colored furniture, often walnut or mahogany wood, of the art nouveau and 19 th century furniture. These 8 chairs are completely restored and are sitting as new. They belong by the table of ambonya.

art deco table ambonya

art deco table ambonya

An art deco table made of ambonya veneer. The foot has the swinging lyra form, which is typical for the art deco style in those days. Ambonya is a very rare type of wood, which was often chosen in the art deco because of the clear colors. That was a reaction on the 19th century and the art nouveau period with the often dark colored furniture of walnut and mahogany. The table has two "allonges", so you can make the table longer on both sides. These "allonges" are often from another sort of wood. By these table are 8 chairs of also ambonya veneer. See photo with only 4 chairs, and see the other articles of my site: Leon Emile Bouchet gondole chairs.

"Tambourine"
